Becoming a Host Family

Believe it or not, there are thousands of Host Families in the UK and they really enjoy accommodating students of different nationalities. It is an opportunity to get to know different cultures while earning an income.

Why be a Host Family?

  • Students come for an average of 3 weeks, so if you want to take a break because you want to go on holiday or you have family coming to stay just let us know and we won’t give you any bookings for that period. This is more difficult if you take a lodger or a long-term booking.

  • If you have a spare room then you can make it ‘pay its way’ while meeting lots of different people from different cultures.

  • If you have a youngster going to University, then you can occupy the room while they are away and use any income to help them with their living expenses.

  • If you are living alone, it’s a bit of company. Many of our families are retired ladies who enjoy looking after the students and eating together in the evenings.

  • You will join The Homestay Company’s family and you will meet other families who host students. We look after each other.

  • For some bookings, we will require you to apply for a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). This certificate is very useful and you will be able to use it if you want to do any other work involving children or vulnerable adults. We will meet all the costs for obtaining this.

  • We will be here to help you, even outside office hours.

So, all you need to do now is complete the short form, submit it and we will give you a call. This will be your chance to ask us lots of questions.

We would love to hear from you!
